Mission

To raise awareness of the malaria epidemic and support innovative programs to eradicate the disease.

Vision

Through the targeted support of innovative and effective programs, malaria incidence and mortality rates are dramatically reduced, funding for replication on a broad scale is made available and Uganda becomes malaria free. Having proven the interventions, they are used effectively throughout east Africa and worldwide.

Leadership Team

R. Marc Fulmer - Executive Director

Marc's early career years (1966-2002) were in the construction industry where he excelled as a project manager and contractor.  In 2002,  Marc transitioned to the nonprofit world as a founding staff member and eventual President of Agathos International working in Africa on orphan care, medical and food relief and remains Director of GIK and Medical Relief.  Marc serves on the board of Persecution Project Foundation working on behalf of the persecuted church in Southern Sudan.  Marc is Executive Director of Race Against Malaria.   Marc resides in Arlington WA and is married to Mae Fulmer for 25 years.  They have four children and four grandchildren.

Robert T. Smith - Chairmen of the Board  

Rob Smith raised in Zambia and South Africa, is the CEO of Earth Wise Ferries International, Inc. and Thain Boatworks, Inc. The focus of Earth Wise is the creation of jobs and economic life by restoring water transportation in poor areas of the world – primarily in East and West Africa. Rob and his team have produced and deployed three ferries on Lake Victoria.  He has over twenty years of experience as a general contractor and fifteen years of manufacturing experience.

Financial Policy

Race Against Malaria adheres to generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP), utilizes the Unified Chart of Accounts developed by the Center for Charitable Statistics and references the Unified Financial System for Not-for-Profit Organizations.  The Board of Directors of Race Against Malaria has ultimate authority to use contributions at its discretion, consistent with Race Against Malaria's exempt purposes.

Nonprofit Status 

Race Against Malaria is a registered Washington State Not-For-Profit organization. We have our Federal Identification Number and as of December 2018 are applying for our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization determination. We anticipate securing it by May 2019.
